Wow, does time ever fly. The year 2016 is gone, and 2017 is here! It's been quite some time since I've posted, and I've had several of you reach out to make sure things are alright; so I wanted to take a quick moment to update everyone on how things have been going. TL;DR: Things are good! I can't complain, anyways.
Over the last 6 months or so, I've been sort of unintentionally taking some time away from the Blog to just focus on my personal health and wellbeing. When I started this Blog, I found writing to be extremely therapeutic, and very beneficial to my recovery. It gave me an outlet to pour all of my thoughts and feelings into, learn and share about the topics of harm reduction and recovery, and find like-minded folks to interact with. It's been such a wonderful experience, and through this blog I have had the chance to engage with and meet some absolutely fantastic people I never otherwise would have encountered. However, over the last year or so, I've noticed I just haven't felt the need to sit down and write/blog as often as I used to. Not that I don't have problems and issues to work through still, I simply feel that I am in a much healthier and better place than I have been over the last several years.
I am happy to announce that I am still cigarette/nicotine free! It has been over a YEAR now, and I am very happy to be a non-smoker. I have noticed so many positive changes in my body, and I have no desire to go back. Mr. L also recently celebrated his 1 year cigarette-free! He chose to go the vaping route, and is currently in the process of weaning down the nicotine levels in his vape juice. He's doing awesome.
Speaking of weaning... Guess whose finally started to drop their Methadone dose?! MEEEE! Even though I've really only just begun, I'm quite proud of myself for taking that step forward. I had been pussy-footing around for some time with whether or not I was actually ready to start dropping, and I'm glad that I took the plunge and just went for it. So far, I've dropped 5mg, and will be dropping another 5mg in just over a weeks time. Seeing a decrease in my dose, albeit a small one, still feels great. Mr. L has also begun the process of weaning as well. Considering we are both on relatively high doses, the weaning process is going to be a long one; but we gotta start somewhere!
I want to say a big thank you to those of you who took the time to get in touch with me personally to check in to make sure things were alright. I truly appreciate your concern; it means a lot.
I hope everyone is having an amazing start to 2017, and wish you all the best in the coming months!
